Module 6: Evangelism is a Process

Effective evangelism with international students involves getting to know their story, introducing them to God’s story, and trusting God to change their hearts and transform their lives. Knowing God is a process for all of us, which involves hearing and believing God’s truth one step at a time. Here is how you can help international students get to know God personally. LEARN THEIR STORY -What are their interests, experiences, hopes, and ambitions? -Why did they choose to come to America to study? -Look for ways to connect their story (life questions, needs, challenges, etc.) with Jesus’ story. -What are their obstacles to coming to Christ? LISTEN TO THEIR CULTURE -What is their personal worldview? -Relate the Gospel to their personal worldview: --Honor/Shame worldview (God restores their honor and removes their shame.) --Power/Fear worldview (God rescues them from danger and evil.) PRAY -Show them that relationship with God is real, and that you believe in His power. -Encourage them to talk with God.
