Module 1

Why International Students?

Jesus tells us to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). Each year, over 1 million international students attend our universities and colleges across the United States. God is bringing the nations to us. This is your opportunity to help reach the nations from right here, right now, with the love and message of Jesus Christ.

Today there are international students studying in foreign lands, including ours, who come from virtually every nation on earth. These students are among the brightest and best from their nations. Many of them will hold positions of influence in their communities, nations, or even the world after they complete their studies.

This affords us, God’s people, the extraordinary opportunity to impact the nations for Jesus Christ as we share His love and life-giving message with the international students in our communities. Here are some reasons why:

  • International students are open to friendship.
  • International students are curious about their host culture and customs.
  • International students are often spiritually hungry.
  • International students represent many of the least-reached nations of the world.
  • International students will be future influencers in their nations and across the world.
  • International students, as Christ-followers, are a strategic force for completing the Great Commission.

“Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
