Overview
Jesus calls us to not only be His disciples (followers), but to become disciple makers. Discipleship is an ongoing process of getting to know Jesus and obeying Him one step at a time.
Here are some important concepts and ways new believers can grow as disciples of Christ:
- We are called not only to believe in Jesus but to become His disciples (followers).
- New believers need help growing as disciples of Christ.
- Discipleship growth best happens life on life and in community with other disciples of Jesus.
- Discipleship is the simple process of helping another believer grow in their relationship and obedience to Jesus Christ.
- We help new believers learn how to be followers of Jesus by teaching and modeling for them:
- How to pray and listen to God daily.
- How to read, study, and meditate on God’s Word.
- How to obey God’s Word.
- How to share their faith (truth discoveries) with others.
- How to serve the needs of others in Jesus’ name.
- How to worship with and encourage other Christ followers.
