I am so excited to begin this journey of working with International Students, Inc. to minister to the international students that God is bringing to our community! At the beginning of 2021, I was on a mission trip in Kyiv, Ukraine and was having a conversation with the missionaries from our church that had recently moved there to serve. When they said, “we wish we wouldn’t have waited to move overseas to start engaging in relationships with people from other cultures,” it struck a chord with me. As I stepped off the plane to come home, I began asking the Lord for opportunities to befriend internationals in our community. I was praying this in tandem with requests asking the Lord how He wanted to use me as I finished up seminary this summer. Through multiple people and events, the Lord led me strongly and clearly to ISI. It’s been a joy to walk through the pre-hiring process and feels like a dream come true to get to launch into this ministry! I will be working part-time in this role alongside another part-time role of Missions Minister at our local church, Beaumont’s First Baptist. I am looking forward to befriending international students, giving them the opportunity to learn more about life in the US and, ultimately, life in Christ!
